Before the Volcahueyatlian Awakening the Volashnic Sea had a prosperous ecosystem which caused the rocky shore to be lush and lively. The volcanic vents were also much milder with lava streams only flowing trough the mountains rarely.
Then, around half a millennium ago a massive earthquake happened that has now been named the Volcahueyatlian Awakening caused the sea’s ecosystem to collapse and made the lava flows near the shore worse. The Volashnic sea became toxic and dangerous to cross. The believers of Arachnism think that the awakening was a act of Thea Arachnea to restore the balance after a long prosperous time.
