King’s Crossing is a massive bridge that connects Ashport and King’s Isle. it was built to celebrate the new democracy, to signify the connection between the city and it’s rulers and also serves as the first step in the cleaning process of Volashnic Sea water.
The top level of bridge has two tramlines running trough the middle and two pedestrian walkways for the people walking across or shopping at the many markets that are situated on the bridge.
Under the top level of the bridge lies the machinery that cleans Ashport’s water from metals and particles, water is pumped out of the sea by one of the 12 intakes and then pumped trough Spidersilk Filters which catch metals and other large particles. The clean water is then dumped out the other side of the bridge, into the Aquashnic Sea, a man-made sea dammed of by King’s crossing and Volock Dam.
The filters have to be changed every 3 days, Spidersilk Filters have a high capacity but a lot of water flows trough them so capacity is easily reached. Since the filters clean metals from the seawater the filters are full of valueable metals after use, Ashport harvests the metal from the filters for later use or to sell, making water cleaning into a profitable industry.
